The month of may brought with it spring storms, horrible, horrible moth problems and many moths. May and June were a time to say goodbye.
Alumni of the Byers schools marked the end of 107 years of education. After the decision came to consolidate with Petrolia ISD.
After three years, Dr. George Kazanas left Wichita Falls to become the superintendent of Midway ISD, and Police Chief Dennis Bachman retired from the Wichita Falls Police Department.
Deputy Cheif Manuel Borrego took the reins as interim chief helping the FBI take a significant amount of crack cocaine off the streets after a federal raid at the Budget Inn.
By the end of June, a Wichita County jury found Benjamin Prince guilty of fatally beating his 23-month-old son in August 2009. Prince is spending life in prison without the eligibility for parole. On May first, a petting zoo lost several animals to an unknown attacker.
Zoo officials say someone came onto their property killing a wallaby, several rabbits, and a pot belly pig. The Wichita County Sheriff's Office, however, said a pack of wild dogs is most likely responsible for the animals deaths.
There were concerns over the possible closure of the Kamay post office. But those fears were alleviated when the postal service announced Kamay would operate fewer hours instead of closing all together.
