Smart Woman: Helping Children Find Their Voice

More than 400,000 people are living with down syndrome in the U.S. One in 88 children has autism by age 8. One in five children will be diagnosed with a mental illness. Many of these children find it difficult to make friends and make their way in life. Now, a music legend is helping these kids find their voice and find out just how special they really are.

Bernadette Bascom has shared the stage with Elton John and Stevie Wonder. Now, she is combining both her passions to form the music project.

Bernadette now hopes to take the music show to the national level, helping teenagers across the country.  She's also working on a reality TV show, spotlighting kids who aren't perfect in Hollywood's eyes but are perfect to her.
