Several People Facing Charges in Wichita Falls Copper Theft

By: KFDX News

About 10 people are facing charges in connection with a series of copper wire thefts. Wichita Falls police say the wire was sold back to the same recycling facility it was stolen from.

They recieved information about thefts going on for several months at Bell Processing on Burkburnett Road. 53-year-old Clarence Buchanan and 44-year-old Brenda Dickens have been charged with engaging in organized criminal activity, theft under $20-thousand.

27-year-old Samantha Walden was booked into jail last week on the same charge. All have $50-thousand bonds.

Company officials became suspicious when the same people began coming in, sometimes together and sometimes separately, selling wire that matched exactly wire the company had bought from Oklahoma.

Sale tickets show in just one week, over one thousand pounds of the more than 42-hundred pounds in the piles of wire had been bought.
