Officials say 54-year-old Lois Luig was pronounced dead at the scene. It happened on FM 172 about 3 miles south of Scotland.
DPS Sergeant Toby Catlin says Luig and a friend were taking their daily walk around 6 o'clock this morning when Luig was struck from behind.
Catlin says her friend was not injured. She managed to jump out of the way in time.
According to Lois' friend and business partner Steve Hancock, Lois had just opened her business, Mustang Supply Company last June.
Hancock says Lois was married and had three children and a grandson. Hancock also says Lois was very dedicated, loved staying fit and had competed in triathlons in the past.
He says she is purely the victim of bad circumstances and will be greatly missed. No charges in this accident are expected to be filed
