Three Dozen Pigs Need New Home

By: Gwyn Bevel
Updated: January 7, 2013

Three dozen little piggies need new homes, after some huffing and puffing from neighbors.
There are thirty plus piggies living in Florence Gruber's house in Northern Vermont, but not for long.
Her neighbors squealed to the town council, which voted to kick out what she calls cute and cuddly creatures.
Council members ruled Gruber is violating zoning laws, because the property on which she lives is not approved for livestock animals.
Gruber says, "It's a house pet, that uses a litter box like a cat, you know? And so, we really would appreciate if like, the people of Essex would write letters to their town board telling them that they want to be able to keep, you know, these little house pets that are clean, quiet, and safe- and hypoallergenic- in their homes."
Gruber says she'll put the pigs up for adoption.
