Drew Springer of Muenster is filling some big shoes in the 68th District. Big shoes belonging to former State Representative Rick Hardcastle.

Hardcastle decided not to seek re-election after 13 years on the job.
His term officially doesn't end until Friday, so he's in Austin, doing a little "coaching" to the new lawmakers.

"I'm still involved in the legislative process and I'm gonna hang around and see if anybody needs any help on any issues and make my services available but, you know there a lot of issues that I've dealt with over the last 14 years that some of these boys and girls will need some help on," said Hardcastle.

Since taking office in 1998, he's introduced legislation to set standards for stem cell treatment and research which held a special significance for him after he was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2003.
