MLK Prayer Breakfast Scheduled for Saturday

By: Karel Davis
Updated: January 10, 2013

Future lawmakers and future leaders can receive encouragement and good food at the upcoming MLK prayer breakfast.

The event pays tribute to the late civil rights leader Martin Luther King Junior and at the same time raises much needed scholarship funds for young people in Wichita Falls.

This year's speaker is Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, the second, who's a graduate of Booker T. Washington high school, which used to be located on Flood street, and which closed many years ago.

Congressman Cleaver is currently serving his fourth term as a representative of Missouri's Fifth Congressional District. Prior to his election to Congress he served as the first African American Mayor of Kansas City.

The prayer breakfast is scheduled for Saturday, January 19th from 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the MPEC.

Cost for adults is 20 dollars.
It's $14 for children.
For ticket information, call  761- 7980.
