Sports specific training provides an individualized program tailored to a specific athletes sports and his or hers needs.
United Regional physical therapist Robert Newman strongly suggests serious athletes look into such programs months before competition.
"If these athletes have not worked on this," says Newman, "and then jump full force into full speed training many times they can set themselves up for injury.:
Newman highly recommends consulting a professional as opposed to self training because a trained professional can not only conduct testing to develop a program. They can develop a program which will give an athlete more immediate results.
"We see kids dropping half a second on their 40 yard dash with a six week period of time," says Newman.
Whether you are looking for flexibility, speed, quickness or endurance, sports specific training can give you the athletic advantage.
