Councilors approved the city's joining the Texas Coalition for Affordable Power, or TCAP, which purchases electricity for the city's own governmental use.
TCAP negotiates terms and conditions for electric service that may be unavailable to a single city acting alone.
According to TCAP's website, this arrangement provides price stability in the state's energy market.
TCAP members and member cities advocate for lower electricity rate for all consumers within Texas cities.
