2013 is already a busy year for retail construction companies in Wichita Falls.
And it looks like those companies will stay pretty busy the rest of the year keeping up with new stores, restaurants and other businesses.
Bobby Teague, the city's assistant director of community development, says, "We have a nursing and rehabilitation center coming on Kemp St. south of Southwest Parkway; that's a pretty big project.  We also have a new Dollar General that's going in on Iowa Park Rd.  We have a NuTech Pharmacy which is a pharmacy where they put stuff together and send it to hospitals."
And if shopping is more your style...
"Then we have the Dress Barn, which I think some of the ladies will like that.  That's going in in the Quail Creek Shopping Center," Teague says.  "We have plans in for that."
Plus, four new restaurants will soon be serving up their specialties.
"One of which just opened on Monday which is the Rib Crib and it's out in Wichita Square right there along the Kemp and Call Field area," Teague says.
And if chicken and waffle fries are your thing, there's another restaurant going in the Wichita Square as well.
"We just issued permits for the Chick-fil-A, which I think is the biggest one everybody wants to know about," Teague says.  "They have the construction fence up and the job trailer out there, so that construction should be starting any time now."
Other restaurants you'll soon be enjoying include Five Guys Burgers and Fries.
That's going in across from Sikes Senter Mall on Wayne St.
And the Wasabi Sushi and Hibachi Steakhouse, which is going in on Call Field west of the new Call Field shopping center.
The slab for that building was just recently poured.
Of course, with all these new businesses coming in, that can bring up some traffic concerns.
At yesterday's city council meeting, John Burrus, the city's transportation director, said thanks to the Lawrence and Rhea Rd. Realignment Project, traffic in that busy area has been flowing fairly smoothly.
He said he and his staff continuously check the traffic light schedule to ensure traffic doesn't get backed up in certain areas.
He said they'll continue to do so, especially as all these new businesses come in.
