Wichita Falls Fire Department crews and officials with The Wichita Falls Public Works Department teamed up to ready themselves for this years fire season. Fire training took place at Lucy Park. Officials with Public Works say this helps out with flood control.

Debris made it difficult for flood waters to receed, so fire fighters took time to burn nearly a dozen brush areas in Lucy Park. They say although grass burns faster than brush, a brush fire is harder to contain. They say that is one of the causes for the extensive fires in Possum Kingdom in 2011.
