People from as far a Oklahoma City and Dallas migrated into Wichita Falls Saturday morning for the annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Prayer Breakfast.
First, hundreds enjoyed a hearty meal then they paid homage to a man who dedicated his life to bringing about equality.
"Dr. King traveled over six million miles and spoke over 2500 times, appearing where there was injustice, not only for his race, but for all mankind," says Myra Jackson, a student at McNeil Elementary.
"What Dr. King did was not just for the benefit of America, not just African Americans, it is a better place because he lived and died in this country. explains Rep. Emanuel Cleaver.
This year's guest speaker, Wichita Falls native and current Missouri Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, delivered a stern message about Dr. King's passion for equal rights.
And despite the many changes seen in today's society due to Dr. King's work, he says the fight for true equality is a battle that continue today.
"I think it is important for us to keep in mind that things are still challenging on the subject of race, Martin Luther King Jr's dream has not been realized and it will not be realized unless we keep on pushing," explained Rep. Cleaver.
