Would anyone pay more than four-million dollars for a used car? They would if that car was the Batmobile.

And Saturday in Arizona, someone did just that-buying the original Batmobile from the 1960s television series for 4.6 million dollars at auction.

The man selling the car, George Barris, is the man who customized a 1955 Lincoln Futura concept car and turned it into the famed crime-fighting conveyance.

The Batman TV show ran for three seasons and featured the popular 19 foot long, black, bubble-topped car which in fiction could lay down smoke screens and oil slicks.

The winning bidder has not been identified publicly.
