Instead of sleeping in on their Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, these students decided to pitch in their time and strength at a Wichita Falls Goodwill store.
Shannon Stevens, Goodwill general manager, says, "They're helping us separate items."
Krista Duke, a student volunteer, says, "We've been sorting through computer, monitors, mouses, key boards, all kinds of technology."
The items pile up in Goodwill's warehouse as more donations are dropped off or delivered.
Goodwill is selling all the old items to a computer equipment recycling center.
"We're a 'going green' kind of company," Stevens says.  "And as Goodwill, we try to keep stuff out of the landfills."
The money received from the recycling center will go toward their adult day care program, career development center, and youth programs.
More than 30 high school and college students donated their day off to help out at Goodwill.
"It's just a great opportunity to get out and service my community," Duke says.  "I don't get the chance to do that a lot because I'm a student and I work, so this has been a great opportunity to get to do that."
Acts of good will inspired by the man who stood for good will to all people.
Kelise Cunningham, a student volunteer, says, "It's Martin Luther King day.  He made a huge difference.  Why can't I?"
"There are people in the community who want to help, and they're glad to do it.  That's amazing," Stevens says.
Goodwill officials say it would have taken them about three months to do the work all those students did today, so their help was truly appreciated.
