Kids Cafe Program Expanding

A program that provides hundreds of North Texas area children with a hot meal is preparing to dish up food for even more kids.
The Wichita Falls Area Food Bank's Kids Cafe program provides more than 500 qualifying children with a hot meal at the Southside Youth Senter, the Boys and Girls Clubs an Camp Fire.
Now, the food bank is teaming with Communities in Schools to expand the program and offer a hot after school meal at Crockett Elementary, Kirby Junior High School, and Wichita Falls High School.
"These children were not children who had access to the Boys or Girls Club cause the were staying after school to enhance their learning capabilities an their ability to move forward with their lives, so they didn't have access to the boys and girls club. They were basically getting a snack in the afternoons and a lot of times went home and were not having a meal, depending on when mom and dad were there," says Mark McKethan, executive director at the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank.
The expansion will add an additional 100 kids to the Kids Cafe program and starts Monday.
