Continued low lake levels has the city of Wichita Falls nearing stage 3 water restrictions.
And since city officials say about 27 percent of household water usage comes from your bathroom they say that's a good place to start conserving.
According to city public works officials adding a displacement device, like a bottle of water, to a high flow toilet can reduce the amount of water used by your toilet.
Officials also say a leaky toilet can also result in a lot of water loss.
But the easiest way to check it is to put several drops of colored food dye in the toilet tank and let it sit.
After 30-minutes if the water in the bowl is colored you have a leak.
But the cost to fix it won't drain your wallet.
City officials say for about 5 dollars you can replace the flapper and save water as well as money on future water bills.
