breaking news
Two horses loose on Interstate 40 led to a serious wreck Friday morning.
Jeannie Troxel, a witness, chased the horses for hours.
She stopped when she saw the light brown mare and her colt loose as she drove to work at 7 a.m.
"We almost hit the horse," Troxel said. "All you could do is, 'Oh my God.'"
Others joined in on the corral, along with the owners, Oklahoma Highway Patrol and Animal Welfare.
They caught the mother, Aurora, and her son, Prince Phillip, but the mare got free as they worked to load them in a trailer.
Just down the highway, the wrangling efforts had drivers curious on what led to the crash.
Troopers said a white truck was stopped in the middle of the interstate when it was hit from behind and ended up in the trees.
