No Changes to Be Made in WF Animal Restraint Ordinance

Mixed reaction from city councilors means no change to Wichita Falls' current animal restraint ordinance. Not right now at least.

Lou Kreidler, Director of the Wichita County Health Department says she asked councilors if they wanted to make changes to the ordinance.

The three options she presented included keeping the current ordinance as is. The second was to ban the chaining of animals outside at any time. And the third was to revise the ordinance and allow the chaining of pets only when the owner is in the presence of the animal.

Kreidler says there wasn't an overwhelming response one way or the other. So until three councilors or the mayor asks for the ordinance to change, if that ever happens, the current ordinance remains in effect.

That means animals can be chained outside up to 3 hours during the day, but not between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m.
