A bumpy ride for the pilot of a 1970's plane that crashed about eight miles northeast of Abilene on Thursday.
Amazingly, the pilot, 75-year-old Frank Leroy Bell, was not injured. Mr. Bell was flying his A-60 Beech two engine airplane when the plane ran out of fuel as he tried to sit the plane down in a plowed field.
The plane was just short of its destination and ended up hitting mesquite trees nearby.
