State and federal charges are pending against a Lawton man who police say admits to possessing an explosive device officers found back in August. Police say they were able to trace fingerprint evidence found on the device to 29-year-old James Anthony Cox.

In August, Lawton officers responded to a shooting with intent call in the 300-block of Northwest Euclid. While there, police saw an explosive device inside a truck. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol Bomb Squad reported to the scene and rendered the device safe.

After fingerprinting evidence came back last month, police say they interviewed Cox who admits to possessing the explosive device. The Comanche County District Attorney's Office now has this case.
