The city of Burkburnett is one step closer to getting an aquatic center.

Monday night, three conceptual design options for a family aquatic center ranging from 2.7 million to 4- million dollars were presented to the board of commissioners.

Monday evening, the board moved forward with concept number three to send back to consultants for feasiability analysis.
The analysis will help answer questions like how much it would cost to operate the aquatic center and projected numbers of attendance. City Manager Tim James says it is still too early to decide when or if the aquatic center would be built.

"Whether or not the council even moves forward to send this to voters in may is still to be seen. We're in a very early stages and just looking at whether they want to do it now or possibly put it off to the future because of our drought conditions," James said.

On Friday, the Burkburnett Development Corporation met and approved allocating 500,000 dollars to the project.

Now this is only in the research and development stage. Burk city leaders say moving forward with a design does not mean they are building an aquatic center.
