One month into this year's United Way free income tax filing program and coordinators say they're on track for a record setting year.
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program started January 26th and so far, United Way officials say more than 1,500 returns have been prepared and filed.
Most taxes are prepared at Sikes Senter Mall but coordinators say many Texomans are also going to VITA offices in Burkburnett, Iowa Park and Heniretta.
Volunteers say at this pace, this year's program could be the best attended since it started seven years ago.
'Last year we had about 2,370 returns prepared and this year we already have over 1,500 prepared. So, we're on track to surpass our numbers from last year," says Joe Caterine with Americorps VISTAS.
The United Way opened a new site today at Goodwill Industries in Wichita Falls.
Volunteers will be there one more day, next Wednesday.
To make an appointment at any location call the United Way's 211 Help Line weekdays 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
