It was a day of remembrance this afternoon in Burkburnett... As many residents took time to celebrate the life of a woman who wasn't only well known for her age, but also the impact she made in the community.

She made history and set an example throughout her 100 plus years on earth.

Effie Mae Caffee passed away Saturday at the age of 111, surrounded by her family.

Today family, friends and so many in the Burkburnett community paid their respects at her funeral service this afternoon at the First United Methodist church.

As a super centenarian, which is someone over the age of 110.

She made history when she reached 111, the age made her the oldest person in Texas and the 59th oldest in the world.

While she was born in Oklahoma in 1902. Effie spent 85 years of her life in Burkburnett.

Where her community service efforts and outgoing personality touched many lives within the community.

"I think they'll remember her kind spirit and her sense of humor. She was a very funny lady and just her friendship, how much she cared for people. Said Burkburnett Resident Lydia Pellikan.

Effie was a past president of the Women's Society of Christian Service and very active in the First United Methodist Church of Burkburnett .Community members also recall her as remaining active even in her older age, As she continued to drive up to the time she turned 107.
