Updated: February 28, 2013
Lawton Police have released the identity of a wounded suspect involved in a shootout with Lawton Police Wednesday morning.

Police say 22 year old Demetrius Miller remains in Comanche County Memorial Hospital.

According to police, Miller has been placed under arrest for the shooting of Officer Eric Weatherly.

Police say Weatherly is still in the hospital but is expected to make a full recovery.

A second suspect, 22 year old Jamal Erwin, or "Jay-Red" Johnson, was arrested Wednesday.

Lawton police say the incident started around 10:30 Wednesday morning when Officer Eric Weatherly responded to a call in the 1600 block of Northwest 27th Street.

Investigators say Officer Weatherly made contact with Miller and Erwin, who then began shooting at him. A second officer, Craig Lymen arrived and joined in the exchange of gunfire. Officer Weatherly and Miller were shot and wounded. Both were transported to Comanche County Memorial Hospital. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is handling the investigation since officers were involved in the shooting.

Because of Lawton Police Department policy, both Officer Lymen and Officer Weatherly have been placed on Administrative Leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
