A former race horse isn't wasting his retirement.

He's given up racing but has a new hobby: Painting!

Metro is living out his retirement years at Motters Station Stables in Rocky Ridge, Maryland.

The ten year old thoroughbred racehorse won eight races, taking home a total of $300,000.

Metro's career ended at Penn National Race Course.

Bad knees did him in, but he wasn't about to just roll over and do nothing.

"I taught him to target a canvas," says his owner, Ron Krajewski.

Krajewski, an artist in his own right, taught his horse to paint.

With brush in mouth Metro creates abstract art.

"This is the most fun I have ever had as an artist because the only thing I have to think about is color choice I don't have to think about where the paint going to go metro does all that," Krajewski says.

Ron helps the process by turning the canvas.

"I just let him go.  When it looks kind of balanced then we will stop," he says.

Metro's paintings are for sale and in high demand, with a portion of the proceeds going to a racehorse adoption charity.
