A routine traffic stop in Clay County Monday leads to the discovery of more than 100 pounds of marijuana.

According to the arrest affidavit, a DPS trooper stopped a Cadillac Deville traveling southbound on US 287 near Bellveue for speeding. The car was driven by Linda Sue Caldwell.

The affidavit says the trooper noticed several indicators of criminal activity and asked Caldwell if he could search the car. When Caldwell denied his request, a K-9 unit was called out and alerted the troopers to a positive odor of narcotics.

The affidavit says the trooper searched the car and discovered 110 vacuum sealed bags of high grade marijuana in the trunk. According to the Clay County Pioneer Sentinel, the 110 bags of marijuana weighed in at 128 pounds and was estimated to be worth nearly $600,000.
