Third Quake Shakes OK in Weeks Time

For the third time in one week the state of Oklahoma was shaken by an earthquake of magnitude 3.4 or greater.

This time the temblor was epicentered six miles from Prague, OK and a depth of 9.3 miles below the surface of the earth.

Folks around the region reported feeling the quake to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).  But the reports were of 'light' shaking and no damage was reported.  Damage with quakes of this magnitude are rare. However, quakes of this magnitude are considered strong for this region of the nation.

It was earlier this week and last week that two quakes of magnitude 3.5 hit the state.  This includes one just outside of OKC and another near Tishomingo near the Arbuckle Mountains.

This is an up tic in activity from what was a rather quiet end to the year 2012 and beginning of 2013 when few quakes were reported.

Prague, OK is famous for being the epicenter of the largest quake in Oklahoma history back in November of 2011.  That quake had a magnitude of 5.6. (For more information on the 5.6 quake in 2011 click this sentence).
