A former church daycare worker is facing criminal charges after staff there say they realized the woman embezzled hundreds of dollars.

45-year-old Melissa Reynolds is charged with forgery in the theft. An arrest affidavit states she fraudulently cashed a number of checks from the Sonshine Station Learning Center at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Wichita Falls.

Staff there say their records indicate Reynolds made checks payable to several of her pseudonyms. They say she stole more than $1,400 from May 2006 until August 2007. Reynolds is out on a $10,000 bond.
