TxDOT Looking to Combat Spring Break Drunk Driving

By: Larry Statser
Updated: March 7, 2013

With spring break coming next week for most schools, the Texas Highway Patrol is stepping up patrols and TxDOT is spreading the message that alcohol and asphalt don't mix, and there is no difference between drunk driving and buzzed driving.

TxDOT's campaign is to encourage those who may drink too much to arrange in advance for a sober ride home. Spring time is the most dangerous time for alcohol-related accidents. DPS troopers will focus patrols in high risk locations especially on weekends.

Last year during spring break, troopers made more than 1,000 DWI arrests. For more information on how to learn your limit and prepare in advance in case you go over that limit, we have a link to the TxDOT campaign: www.soberrides.org
