Passengers are seeing a construction equipment push a lot of dirt at Wichita Falls Municipal Airport.

It's a sign the first phase of a new airport project is halfway finished.

Four months ago, crews started building a new parking lot and road to the terminal during phase one of the project.

Airport officials say that phase is about about 50% complete.

They're already planning the next step which is to build a new terminal.

"They were talking about starting phase 2 in November of next year. Now, they are already talking about September. They should be going out for bid on phase two in August," says Airport Administrator LeAnn Moran.

Officials say construction has not slowed operations at the airport which will soon include a second morning flight for passengers.

Starting April 2nd, departure flights from Wichita Falls to DFW will be at 6 a.m., 10:25 a.m., which is the new flight, 2 p.m. and 6:05 p.m.

Arrival flights from DFW to Wichita Falls will be at 9:55 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 5:35 p.m. and 8:35 p.m.
