Updated: March 11, 2013

Two men died after a pickup truck fell 30 to 60 feet off a cliff onto the Lake Travis shoreline just after midnight Sunday, officials said.

A third person in the pickup called 911 about 12:15 a.m. after being pinned under the vehicle; he was airlifted to University Medical Center Brackenridge, according to Lt. Kyle Swarts, a spokesman for the Pedernales Fire Department.

Emergency crews spent about 2.5 hours to free the man, whose injuries were life-threatening, said Jeff Steele, a spokesman for Austin/Travis County Emergency Medical Services.

Officials did not identify the victim or the two men who died, all of whom were in their early 20s. It's not clear how far the truck fell as estimates from various officials have ranged from 30 to 60 feet.
