The Wichita Falls Area Food Bank started its Power Pak 4 Kids Back Pack Program seven years ago.

It's grown over the years and is expected to continue growing.

So, to make sure that program doesn't run out of funding the food bank is serving up a video to help generate funding.

Each Friday during the school year, the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank provides nearly 2,000 students in 10 Texoma counties with nutritional snacks so they will have something to eat over the weekends.

It's called Power Pak 4 Kids Backpack Program and it has been around since 2006 but the down economy has forced donation to drop and food bank officials say that could impact this program that is not government funded.

"And we haven't needed that in the past but because of the growth, but because of the growth of this program, there's possibility in the future.. in the very near future we will need to get some assistance with this," says Jim McMahan, back pak program manager wit the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank.

So last week that food bank released this Ask Kate video to help raise awareness and donations to combat area childhood hunger.

"It just helps them understand why this need is there. It talks about how the father or mother may have lost a job so now, instead of having two incomes they're down to one and they've had to adjust their budgets," explains McMahan.

Although the Ask Kate video has only been available to the public for just four days food bank officials say it has already brought in donations, although the total amount is not readily available.
