The search for the body of a Young County mother authorities say was murdered receives some statewide attention.

Candice Shields was last seen at her grandparents home in Graham 15 months ago.

Over the weekend dozens of volunteers with Texas Search and Rescue, or TEXSAR scoured rural Young County for evidence that could lead them to shield's remains.

The Texas Rangers invited the volunteer group to help with the case and officials say the all day searches on both Saturday and Sunday were beneficial.

"They were able to look at a lot of areas that were of interest. They were able to rule out a lot of areas but as I said, there were several areas highlighted as key locations of areas of interest and that's where now this will focus in. They're fairly sure this will progress the investigation with what they have found over the weekend," says Trooper Tony Fulton with Texas Department of Public Safety.

Twenty four year old Jeremy Paul Thornburg and 22 year old LaJuana Long are charged with Shield's murder and are jailed in Young County.

Thornburg was arrested February 6th and Long was arrested about three weeks later.

Shield's friends and family say at the time of her death, Shields was pregnant by Thornburg and that about that same time, Long was also pregnant with Thornburg's baby.
