Updated: March 12, 2013

Authorities in
Vernon are searching for whoever is behind some funny money.

Officers say there have been three instances in a week of counterfeit bills used around the city.

Police say the fake twenties are smaller than real bills and are missing security features, such as the security band on the left side.

The best way to detect counterfeit money is with an iodine solution pen that leaves a black mark on fake bills.

If you have any information or suspect you received counterfeit money in Vernon, you are asked to call crime stoppers at 552-5011.
