Former J.C. Penney Employee Charged with Operating Theft Ring

A former J.C. Penney employee is charged with operating a theft scheme in which friends walked out with free items after she voided the sales.

19-year-old Taylor Renee Gee is charged with theft over $1,500 and under $20,000. Police say a loss prevention officer at Penney's obtained a written confession of the series of thefts. According to that officer, Gee allowed her boyfriend to come to her register and purchase items, which she then voided.

The officer says the boyfriend made repeated purchases at Gee's register that day, walking out to the parking lot with the merchandise each time. Also that day, he says another friend of Gee made purchases which were voided and the next day her boyfriend returned to make yet another purchase.

Several week later, the officer says a friend of Gee's boyfriend came in and made a voided purchase. Total value of all the purchases was more than $1,500.
