United Way officials say returns prepared during this year's free income tax filing program are on track to quickly surpass last year's numbers.
The United Way's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program kicked off nearly seven weeks ago.
Although the main site is at Sikes Senter Mall in Wichita Falls the service is provided at different locations in several area cities.
And coordinators say volunteers are busier than ever.
From January 26th to today, United Way officials say volunteers have prepared more than 2,200 returns, which is just shy of the number prepared last tax season.
And $3.7 million has been returned to the local community.
The United Way's VITA program ends April 15th and is for anyone whose annual household income is $51,000 or less.
