(WLEX) Two Kentucky parents want answers from their daughter's school concerning her 'hefty' punishment--having to carry the contents of her locker in her backpack for the rest of the week.
13-year-old Ashley Owens, who attends Powell County Middle School, said she accidentally erased a student's name on the board from a list of those who talked in class. She confessed to her math teacher after she asked the class about the incident, Owens said.
"It takes two seconds to write it back," said Owens. "She could've just written it back."
Instead, said Owens, she was instructed to clean out her locker, which was then taped shut, and put everything in her backpack.
Ashley's parents say they are concerned for their 50-pound daughter after her backpack registered on the scale at more than 20 pounds.
"I'm fed up with it," said Stella Owens. "I want something done. She's not doing it."
