WFISD Coach Arrested on Charges in Connection with Alleged Public Intoxication

A Wichita Falls High School coach and teacher is arrested yesterday evening and booked into jail on three charges in connection with an alleged public intoxication incident in a field off Henry S. Grace Freeway yesterday evening.

34-year-old Chris Martin was booked into jail shortly before 10 last night on charges of public intoxication, criminal trespass and unlawfully carrying a weapon. The misdemeanor charges result from a call to police yesterday about a truck driving through a fence behind Foxy Lane and into a field.

Callers reported it was hitting trees and running into fences. A police officer reported there was damage all over the truck. He said Martin was standing beside the truck when he got there, and told him he had a pistol in the truck.

Because Martin had a gun while allegedly engaged in criminal activity, he was charged with unlawfully carrying a weapon. According to WFISD records, Martin has been employed since last July and coached football and track and taught communication applications.
