(WHDH) A teenager is in critical condition after he was mauled by guard dogs in Revere Thursday.
Police say the 14-year-old boy was playing around with a friend behind the Northgate Plaza when he decided to hop a fence and was mauled by two Rottweilers that guard a private construction area.
"Typically, no. There's no one back there -- ever. You see a cruiser sitting out there sometimes. But other than that, there's no one ever back there," said Chuck Simonelli, who works at the mall.
Investigators say the victim is a middle school student from Revere. His 12-year-old friend called police after the dogs started attacking.
Revere police were forced to shoot one of the dogs to get it off the teen. The area remained sealed off for hours after the victim was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
