A new place for fisherman to cast their line is added to Texoma by the dedication of a pond in Wichita Falls this morning.
City leaders alongside Texas Parks and Wildlife representatives and folks from Academy Sports cut the blue ribbon to open the pond on Maplewood. The Maplewood storm water retention pond will be stocked by Texas Parks and Wildlife with large mouth bass and Academy staff will clean the area around the park weekly.
City officials say the Maplewood pond will add more value to our community. "This is great for the community, it's going to open it up for the kids in the summer where they'll have something to do, and fish and hopefully catch some bass," said Mayor Glen Barham.
Officials say the fish in the pond are for catch and release fishing only and if you want to keep the fish they suggest using the pond on Southwest Parkway.
