Mechell anchors weekends on KFDX 3 News and reports during the week. She joined the KFDX 3 team in February 2006.

Mechell was bitten by the news bug early in her life. At the age of 8, she joined a club in her hometown of Lufkin, Texas, and learned how newsrooms operate. After that she says she was hooked.

Over the past decade, Mechell has worked anchored and reported at KALB-TV in Alexandria, LA, WMAZ-TV in Macon, GA, WZVN-TV and WBBH-TV in Fort Myers, FL, and KTRE-TV in Lufkin, TX.

Mechell signed off from the industry in 2000, but the excitement and unpredictable nature of the news business lured her back in 2003.

In addition to reading and watching news (she's a news junkie), Mechell loves to cook, shop, listen to jazz music and spoil her nephew and niece, whenever possible.
